Pizza Lovers: Crosta's Greenhills Branch Is Now on Soft Opening
The acclaimed spot is finally opening up closer north.
(SPOT.ph) Crosta. The pizza spot is among Asia's best, with Chef Yuichi Abellare Ito consistently raising the bar as to what the beloved pie is and can be, all from their Salcedo spot. You know, in faraway (to some) Makati. Admittedly, it's a bit of a struggle for folks in the North to get their slice of the pie, so trust us when we say we've been keeping an eye on their much-awaited Greenhills branch. And finally, the San Juan City spot is on soft opening!

Crosta Greenhills on soft opening
The Greenhills branch started serving up pizzas in mid-August on a dry-run basis. You can see the familiar neon-pink sign hung up on street level of the O-Square Bldg 2 in the Greenhills Shopping Center, behind Marugame Udon and a stone's throw away from ol' dependable Unimart. For now, they open at around noon, with last orders being taken at 7:30 p.m.
Stepping in, you'll be greeted by a just-right angled rectangular space. There's a counter on one side with windows to the magical kitchen (closed when we visited), a self-service table on another, and two sides for seating, one of which faced the glass wall. It's a clean and minimally appointed space, with bits of neon and fun signs giving it character. Tables by the glass wall are also prime people-watching space, as your view is framed by a line of plants.
When we visited on August 30, the menu was a bit more limited compared to their Salcedo branch, but don't worry, the pizza was in absolutely no way lacking. We tried out a classic, the Shroomed Out (P580), with a cheesy base of mozzarella, taleggio, and fontina and an earthy mix of portobello, shiitake, and white button mushrooms plus fresh garlic for added depth. The toppings were the perfect blend of soulful flavors, yet as always with Crosta, it was the perfectly cooked and crisp-yet-fluffy crust that had our attention.
Walking into the new space, don't forget to pay attention to the notice on the door: "Please bear with us." No word yet on when they'll start full operations, but for now, we're happy to get a little taste of Crosta closer to the north.
