( As far as pies go, apple pie definitely ranks high up as one of the best-loved versions around. It exemplifies hominess and nostalgia with how it combines apples and warm spices, cradled by a buttery crust that makes every forkful more swoon-worthy! ICYDK, pastry shop Classic Confections used to make a stellar version that might not have gained cult status as much as their famous Nono's Chocolate Oblivion, for example, but totally deserves more love for its A+ execution. They're thankfully bringing it back for the holidays at their restaurant-bakeshop incarnation, Nono's—and trust us, you don't want to miss it!

You'll want to try Nono's underrated yet stellar Apple Pie this Christmas:

Nono's take on Apple Pie (P1,355) is distinct from other (often, American-style) versions around. Rather, it incorporates European elements and bears a slightly more sophisticated look, but delivers the same comforting profile any apple-pie fan would love. In place of the usual flaky American-style crust is a base that's more of the crisp-yet-tender, shortbread-esque sort, similar to French pâte sucrée. Inside, it's got a not-too-sweet filling of apple chunks that notably retain their integrity, offering a juicy but distinct bite and being imbued with spices without taking over the natural taste of the fruit. And then there's the kicker: A topping of buttery streusel that contribute richness and textural variety to the mix! Sure doesn't hurt that this pie is fantastic at room temperature, warmed, or even straight from the fridge, either by itself or with your favorite vanilla ice cream (or, heck, cheddar) on the side.

That's not all Nono's has got under their sleeves for the Christmas season. Also on their holiday lineup are other sweet treats, like the savory-sweet Parmesan Ensaymada (P95/piece, P555/box of six), the gift-worthy Food for the Gods (P495/box of 16), and the totally decadent Chocolate Pecan Tart (P1,595) that melds buttery, nutty, and bittersweet worlds. For get-togethers, they've got platters of their best sellers—including the Nono’s Homestyle Fried Chicken (P2,685) and Roasted USDA Beef Belly (P3,950). And if you're looking to share the love, you can also go for their gift sets; the Premium Treats Gift Set (P1,495), for example, has packs of their Chocolate Chip Shortbread, Almond Crunch, Russian Tea Cookies, and Chocolate Covered Cornflakes in a festive box complete with a ribbon.
