A Parasite Series Is In the Works at HBO

(SPOT.ph) Unless you live under a rock, you would know Parasite has been making headlines for being the first Korean film to win a Golden Globe (besides having won at the Cannes Film Festival and being shortlisted for an Oscar, no big deal). Parasite's success does raise questions of what's next for South Korean director Bong Joon Ho, and it seems he's headed for television: a limited series based on Parasite is in the works at HBO.

According to Variety, Bong is in talks to executive produce the series alongside Adam McKay (Succession, The Big Short). Kate Street Picture Company and McKay's Hyperobject Industries are putting the series together, with South Korean production house and distribution arm CJ Entertainment completing the team slated to make this project a reality.

If the deal pushes through, this will be Bong's first television project. There are no details yet as to whether the project will bring forth an English remake of the film, or if it's going to be a spin-off. Bong, however, made it clear in his Golden Globes victory speech that foreign language is no barrier to good cinema.
