(SPOT.ph) While we aren't one to "keep up with the Joneses," we do look forward to the momentous moments Catherine Zeta-Jones decides to bless us with her presence in blockbuster projects. After Ocean's Twelve and Zorro in the early aughts, Zeta-Jones is once again stepping into a beloved franchise with the new Addams Family series coming to Netflix.
While focused on supernatural monsters, characters with psychic powers, and other mysteries of the occult, The Addams Family franchise isn't fashioned with the same spookiness you'll find in your typical horror movies, or even Netflix's very own sci-fi, horror crown jewel, Stranger Things. Instead, you'll more offbeat comedy and even musical numbers with this ecclectic bunch. This is perhaps why the franchise has seen adaptations in the form of cartoons, Broadway musicals, and blockbuster movies.
The latest in a long line of Addams Family adaptations, Netflix's Wednesday, is centered on Jenna Ortega as the family's psychic daughter and has legendary filmmaker Tim Burton in the director's chair.

Here's the first look at Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán in Tim Burton's Wednesday Addams Family Series:
In a recent Vanity Fair feature, the creators of Wednesday Alfred Gough and Miles Millar debuted a first look at the series, while also confirming that the famous gothic fantasy director Tim Burton will be directing four of the Netflix series' eight episodes.
"[Burton] was interested in where it was going, the mystery of the show," said Gough on landing Burton as the series' premier director. "He had a lot of questions about the previous television work we'd done, like how we were able to acheive it. He really loved that you had time to be with Wednesday and explore the character and you didn't have to—you know—wrap things up in an hour and 45 minutes."
Burton was previously approached to direct an Addams Family movie in the 1990s.
Zeta-Jones portrays the tall and slim witch Morticia, the matriarch of the family. Acting opposite her is Luis Guzmán as Gomez, the extravagant and ambitious head of the family. The two characters' psychic daughter, Wednesday, is the central focus of the series, with large portions exploring her life in the "normal" high school Nevermore Academy.
Wednesday is set to drop on Netflix sometime in the fall.
