Single's Inferno Gets Spicier, a New Squid Game Clip + More: Netflix's K-Drama Slate Is Looking Good

(SPOT.ph) Second to only the global English-language titles on Netflix, the streaming service's pool of titles with the biggest impact among citizens of the Metro is indisputably the vast selection of K-content. It couldn't be helped; one day during the early lockdown period, we put on titles such as Crash Landing on You, Weightlifting Fairy, and Descendants of the Sun and, now—over three years and dozens of K-dramas later—we're booking travel plans to South Korea.

Another facet of our (controlled) obsession is that we'd wake up at nine in the morning to catch mere announcements of all the upcoming K-series content Netflix has in store at their annual global fan event Tudum. On September 24, Tudum Korea kicked off the two-day event with announcements centering on titles such as Squid Game and Money Heist: Korea. We got the recap below.

Here are the highlights from Netflix's Tudum Korea:

Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area Part 2 (Series)

Kicking off the event, Netflix dropped the first look at Money Heist: Korea's part two. While not immediately clear that the clip is part of the Money Heist universe—due to the lack of red jumpsuits and culturally appropriate heist masks—it did drop a tease of the Joint Task Force brutally taking out an enemy of the state. The release date of Part 2's six episodes was also kept under wraps, but, if we were to guess, we'd say they'll launch as late as early 2023.

Single's Inferno season two & other variety shows

Single's Inferno season one couple Moon Se-hoon and Shin Ji-yeon returned to the secluded island to confirm that a second season of the dating reality show was coming, with a whole new cast of couples headed to the island to mingle and flirt with one another. While you could expect more of the same spicy goodness in the sophomore season, one major change season two will bring is that the couples will be allowed more time to be alone—at night. We need not elaborate further.

Alongside Single's Inferno, two other Korean variety shows have been announced: Physical: 100, wherein a hundred physically fit challengers compete in various obstacle courses and sporting matches to determine who's the strongest of them all; and Korea No. 1, wherein volleyball player Kim Yeon-koung and entertainment personalities Yoo Jae-suk and Lee Kwang-soo visit various master craftsmen in Korea in order to explore Korean arts and culture.

The Fabulous (Series)

Former Kpop star Choi Min-ho and Strongest Deliveryman actress Chae Soo-bin star in the "hyper-realistic" romantic drama The Fabulous. The budding romance between the two will be set across the backdrop of the fast-paced and grand fashion industry. However, if you're more of the "no romantic feelings" type, the stars also describe the series as a depiction of young adults chasing after their dreams and strong friendships as they attempt to make it big in their industry—just with a lot of scenes set at bombastic fashion shows.

Hellbound, All of Us Are Dead + more season two announcements

Netflix has now confirmed that second seasons of the gritty military drama D.P., monster horror Sweet Home, and zombie survival thriller All of Us Are Dead are dropping as soon as within the next year. While no specifics were shared on any of the series, they did also announce that their dark fantasy series Hellbound was returning for a second season as well.

Squid Game season two

Lastly, Tudum closed out with an unreleased clip from Squid Game's first season that reveals an unmasked look at the Front Man (portrayed by Lee Byung-hun) and his new pet fish. No, this doesn't mean the "Squid Game" is becoming a "Fish Game" now. It's simply a tease of the Front Man's return for a larger role in the second season, which was already confirmed in the season two announcement. Like the other titles on this list, no release date has been set for the second season of Squid Game.
