(SPOT.ph) The new year calls for new beginnings. A fresh change and new chapters turned. But not all of them are just joyous—some are, well, bittersweet. This is what avid fans of local brand and lifestyle store halohalo might be feeling as the brand recently announced its closure. Cara Sumabat-Limjap, one of its owners, took to Instagram to announce the closure and thank everyone for being a part of the ride.

Local brand and lifestyle store halohalo will be closing its doors.
Founded in 2013, halohalo is known for its bags, totes, homeware, and apparel. In particular, the brand's uniquely Filipino and nostalgic bags (a.k.a. the banig bags) have caught the attention of fashion-forward folks and people who appreciate beautiful local pieces. Their first brick-and-mortar store opened in Power Plant Mall in February last year.
According to the post, Cara said it's "time to bid farewell to places and things that no longer serve [us]; time to honor what lives within the heart." She expressed her gratitude to the people who have been there from its "infant stage to its graduation into the real world."
The book is closing, she said, with a new one ready to be written.
In a separate post, halohalo stated that they will officially close their doors on January 15. The website will follow suit on January 29. Consumers of the brand flocked to the comment section to thank the brand and wish them good luck on their new journey.
