Special Buy-One-Get-One Promo for Taiwan Rail Pass

(SPOT.ph) More than being the land of bubble tea, night markets, and bangin' eats, Taiwan is quite simply a beautiful destination. It's rolling hills, flower gardens, beaches, and other natural formations will leave you in awe. But getting to these places, especially the more remote areas, can drain your pockets.

But here's some good news: starting this July, tourists headed to Taiwan can save a buck or two on transport around the island. The Taiwan Tourism Administration just launched a special limited-time-only buy-one-get-one promo for the Taiwan Pass. Here's what you need to know about this special tourist-only transportation hack.

Check out this limited-time offer on the Taiwan Pass:

ICYDK, the Taiwan Pass is a special transportation package for travelers. This pass integrates high-speed trains, local metro systems, and tourist buses to shuffle visitors to different parts of Taiwan while making the most of their travel budget. 

Starting this July, the Taiwan Pass has a new offering. Until September 30, tourists can purchase a Taiwan Pass for just NTD 2,800 or roughly P5,026.95 for two people. This buy-one-get-one offer replaces the three-day high-speed railway rides with Taiwan Railways services and extends the validity period to five days.

Under the new Taiwan Pass offering, both Taiwanese and foreign tourists can travel an unlimited number of times on Taiwan Railways trains over a five-day period, either alone or with a companion.

Just like before, the package also includes a pass for regional metro services. Tourists can select either the FunPass Taipei, round-trip rides on the Taoyuan Metro, a 48-hour tourist pass for Taichung Metro, or a two-day pass for Kaohsiung Metro and Light Rail. 

Additionally, travelers also have the option to purchase round-trip tickets for one of four Taiwan Tourist Shuttle routes: Qingjing Farm, Sun Moon Lake, Alishan, or Kenting's scenic areas.

Just a note: this special promo aims to aid the economic recovery of eastern Taiwan following a massive earthquake that struck Hualien County on April 3. Passengers availing of the special promo are required to reserve a trip anywhere between Toucheng and Dawu stations on the Eastern Line when redeeming their Taiwan Railways service.

Where to buy the Taiwan Pass?

You can purchase your Taiwan Pass from third-party sites like Klook. When booking, make sure you select the Taiwan Pass—Hualien Revitalization Plan version to take advantage of the special buy-one-get-one promo. 

How to use the Taiwan Pass?

After you purchase your Taiwan Pass, you will receive a Taiwan Pass redemption code. To activate the pass, you must download the official Taiwan Pass app (available on iOS and Android) and input the code. From here, select the products you will use, save the QR code, and you're good to go.

Note that you won't be receiving any physical passes for this, so remember not to delete the Taiwan Pass app before your trip. 

Passes purchased during the promo period must be fully redeemed before November 30, 2024.
