The 2025 Panagbenga Festival in Baguio City

Preparations for the annual Panagbenga Flower Festival are moving full steam ahead. This year will be the 29th staging of the annual floral fiesta. It will have a theme of Blossom Beyond Boundaries, which embodies the "creativity, passion, and unity that defines the Baguio community and inspires us to aim higher, dream bigger, and achieve together."

In a press conference held after the first flag-raising ceremony of the year, Baguio Flower Festival Foundation President Frederico Alquiroz officially launched the Panagbenga Festival and updated attendees on what to expect this February.

"Panagbenga is not just an event. It is our pride, our identity, and our collective story. It's about pushing boundaries, whether they are artistic, cultural, or personal. This festival belongs to all of us, to everyone, young and old, locals and visitors, dreamers and tours," says Alquiroz.

According to Alquiroz, this year's Panagbenga Festival will be the biggest yet. It will include more categories in the dance competitions, raise the stakes for the medium and large categories of the grand float parade by increasing the grand prize, and continue the newly launched small float category to give the community more opportunities to showcase their creativity.

The Panagbenga Festival started in 1995 and has since been a yearly celebration of Baguio City and the Cordillera's rich cultural heritage and the beauty and abundance of their land. It was first staged as a way to boost tourism in the area following the devastation of the 1990 earthquake, which saw much of the city's infrastructure fall into ruin.
