(SPOT.ph) Four years after its inaugural edition, ALT Philippines is back to the carpeted halls of the SMX Convention Center, this time at the much larger Mall of Asia complex in Pasay City. It runs from February 23 to 25.
With nine of Manila’s established art galleries, the cultural event boasts of presenting works by more than 200 artists, five project spaces, a series of talks, a special selection of video works, and other collaborations. Participating galleries at ALT are Artinformal, Blanc, The Drawing Room, Galleria Duemila, Finale Art File, MO_Space, Underground, Vinyl on Vinyl, and West Gallery. While it insists on being a "continued creative expression and collaboration" platform as opposed to it being an art fair, the feeling of navigating from booth to booth and looking at survey exhibitions at fairs remains the same. To help you navigate this year’s ALT Philippines, here’s a list of what to expect and not to miss out on.
ALT Philippines 2024: The Most Interesting Artworks
The venue for this year’s edition is the SMX Hall 4 of the Mall of Asia Complex. Visitors may take the Seashell Lane entrance, where a huge Juvenal Sansó painting welcomes guests. After passing security checks, walk towards the right wing and follow the large-scale Ayka Go painting displayed close to the exhibition hall doors.
There is no doubt that ALT’s walkable and comfortable carpeted floors encourage the public to take more time and see every artwork displayed.
