(SPOT.ph) For many folks, ramen is the go-to source of sustenance when in the mall and hunger strikes—and Ramen Ron sates the need for a hearty slurp when in Rockwell. The incarnate of Ukokkei Ramen Ron (one of the best-known OG ramen spots in Manila!) boasts umami-rich bowls with their "silky fowl" broth base and equally flavorful toppings, plus playful sides to match. Now you can get your fix when in BGC, as Ramen Ron opens their second branch in Central Square starting tomorrow, October 10!

Take a look at the new Ramen Ron branch in BGC:

SPOT.ph got a sneak peek of the new branch that opens officially to the public on October 10. Similar to their Rockwell outpost, Ramen Ron in Central Square goes for a modern look that still incorporates Japanese elements—a wooden bar and stools, ramen bowls on display, vertical tiles that give a taller illusion, and so on.

There is, however, a sleeker feel to this branch, probably given the use of darker colors that fits in with the relatively lower light of the mall. Fun details are also present to keep things from being alienating: a ceiling resembling the bamboo mat used for sushi, and tiles with the curved stripes repping the noodles in their logo.

You'll find all your Ramen Ron faves here—from the classic Ukokkei Shoyu Chashu Ramen (P515) and Ukokkei Miso Chashu Ramen (P520), to their famous Tantanmen (P530) that's one of the best of its kind in Manila, in our book. These are best paired with their signature sides; their Karaage (P385/five pieces) is one to try, what with its distinct craggy crust that delivers a resounding crunch.

Don't miss their relative newcomers, either: Seafood Ramen (P650) that marries deeply savory miso with bounties of the sea (shrimp, squid, clams, and kani); and the 100% Vegetarian Mushroom Ramen (P505) that goes full-on earthy thanks to mixed 'shrooms. Dessert, too, should be saved room for when at Ramen Ron; the Japanese Pudin (P220) with a rich custard pudding and caramel makes for a memorable meal-ender.

Ramen Ron is the reincarnation of OG ramen spot Ukokkei Ramen Ron, established as the latter's Chef Tamura teamed up with Chef Margarita Fores and son Amado. Initially a delivery-only brand of ramen kits, they finally opened a full-fledged restaurant in Rockwell where old and new fans can slurp up their signatures.
