(SPOT.ph) There have been many well-attended concerts, festivals, and gigs happening in the country, and Pinoys love sing their hearts out during karaoke—so it's safe to say we're a music-loving people. Beyond the fun performances and the heavy rotations on your preferred music streaming service, a lot goes on behind the scenes to bring your favorite artists like Ben&Ben to the stage and to your phone. If you want to catch them live and learn more about the inner workings of both the foreign and local music scene, SONIK Philippines, the first Philippine-centric international music conference and festival, is having them perform alongside other acts on October 4 to 5 at Green Sun, Makati.Â
The two-day conference and festival will feature talks and discussions with both local and foreign music industry experts and professionals. Aside from being an avenue to learn how things work behind the scenes, it's also an opportunity for musicians to improve their craft and establish deeper connections with the local music scene and the rest of the world.
Set to perform alongside Ben&Ben are local music collective Bawal Clan and four-piece band The Adamant, and Tawainese artists 88balaz, April Red, and Outlet Drift.
To help you learn more abou the music industry here and abroad, several speakers have been invited: SOCAN Foundation executive director Charlie Wall-Andrews, LEEWAY Music & Media CEO Jake Lee, Twitter Entertainment Partnerships head for Southeast Asia and Greater China Carl Cheng, LUCfest co-founder Weining Hung, Indie Manila Artist & Activations curators head Bel Certeza, Globe Studios head Quark Henares, and Karpos Multimedia Inc. president and CEO John Uy, just to name a few.
