Expect Cheaper Flights as Fuel Surcharge Goes Down Further in February
In time for Valentine's Day.
(SPOT.ph) Travelers can expect even more cheaper flights come February as the Civil Aeronautics Board lowers the fuel surcharge rate further due to the continuous drop in jet fuel prices.
The fuel surcharge rate this February for domestic and international flights has been set to Level 6 from Level 7 in January and Level 8 in December and November of 2022, according to a Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) advisory issued on Monday, January 16.
The new policy will be implemented after jet fuel prices averaged at P38.92 per liter from December 10, 2022 to January 9, 2023, down from P41.50 per liter in the preceding month.

How much will fuel surcharge go down for flights?
Under Level 6, the applicable fuel surcharge rate ranges from P185 to P665 for domestic flights, and from P610.37 to P4,538.40 for international flights, depending on the distance.
Currently, the fuel surcharge rate ranges from P219 to P739 for domestic flights, and from P722.71 to P5,373.69 for international flights.
CAB said airlines seeking to impose or collect fuel surcharges must file an application on or before the effectivity period. Fuel surcharge rates, however, must not exceed the applicable level.
The lowering of the fuel surcharge rates came as several countries like Japan, Singapore, and Taiwan lifted travel restrictions to Filipinos. Hong Kong has also recently loosened its COVID-19 curbs to incoming travelers.
