Toyo Eatery Jumps Up 18 Spots on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2024
They're also named the Philippines' "best restaurant" for the fifth time.
(SPOT.ph) Food lovers the world over (us included!) turn to Asia's 50 Best Restaurants for guidance in finding the continent's best dining spots. The 2024 edition of the annual list just dropped—and within the top 50 is the Philippines' own Toyo Eatery, jumping a significant number of rankings and being named the Best Restaurant in the Philippines while they're at it.

Toyo Eatery on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2024:
Toyo Eatery is the sole Philippine entry on the top 50 of this year's edition of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants, listed at No. 24—quite a jump (18 spots!) from being 42nd in 2023, and 94th in 2022, 49th in 2021, 44th in 2020, and 43rd in 2019. The Chef Jordy Navarra-helmed establishment is also named the Philippines' "Best Restaurant" for the fifth time in a row this 2024.
No wonder; Toyo's way of making Filipino classics their own is as enjoyable to partake in as it is educational, as they honor both tradition and innovation in the process. "The restaurant prioritises Filipino produce and people, fostering long-term relationships with local farmers and artisans," writes Asia's 50 Best, praising their way of "[presenting] local ingredients in modern ways, [and] playing with fermentation and preservation techniques to create a bold palate of flavours."
Fellow Karrivin Plaza resident Metiz, which was listed on Asia's 50 Best (at No. 48 to be exact!) for the first time in 2023, is still on the top 100—specifically on the 84th spot. They've similarly made waves for their clever ways of championing local, using Philippine produce and meats and employing fermentation where applicable.
Also worth celebrating is the inclusion of Singapore's Lolla as a new Asia's 50 Best lister at No. 43; this is helmed by Filipina chef Johanne Siy, who was named Chef of the Year at the World Gourmet Awards in 2021, and Asia's Best Female Chef by Asia's 50 Best in 2023. "[At Lolla, Siy] and her team serve a mouthwatering menu that combines Asian and European elements, but has its roots in Siy’s Filipino heritage," writes Asia's 50 Best.
