(SPOT.ph) While the Philippines currently has a quite varied streaming selection that's composed of the many titles on Netflix, the hidden gems of HBO Go, and the R-rated superhero content of Amazon Prime (we're just using our subscription to watch The Boys and Invincible, right? Right.), one streaming service notably lacking from our catalog is the young streaming site Disney+.
Feeling like the Mandalorian on a search for his next bounty, we recently logged onto the professional networking site LinkedIn, only to discover that Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution currently has open job listings for positions directly related to Disney+. Could the streaming platform be launched in our country as soon as this year?

Here's what the Disney Plus Philippines job listings reveal:
Disney has four positions that they are currently recruiting for. They are listed as follows:
- Disney+ Assistant Manager - Social Media
- Brand and Content Marketing, Senior Manager
- Brand and Content Marketing, Manager
- Growth & Acquisition, Manager
Of course, the latter three are instrumental for Disney+ growing its subscriber base here in the Philippines, as well as remaining in unison with the brands of Disney+ from other countries. However, the Social Media Assistant Manager position gives us the clearest idea of how things are shaping up for the platform here in the Philippines. The job description reads:
"The role will launch local social channels for Disney+ (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter and others), will drive the implementation of social content strategies, and work with agencies to manage content calendars, scheduling and publishing of content."
Obviously, social media presence will be a huge factor in how Disney+ reaches its potential subscribers. Given how hiring processes normally work, we can see this Social Media Assistant Manager position being filled out and the hiree being caught up to speed on the upcoming launch within the next couple of months. We could see them taking another couple more months to launch the respective social media platforms, which bodes well for an official launch date announcement by the end of this year, we'd say.
Disney+ is the premier streaming service by the Walt Disney Company. Their most popular productions include content from Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, and National Geographic. Fans of these brands in the Philippines are eagerly awaiting Disney+'s launch, as the streaming platform puts out original content that can only be found on their service.
Want to know why the Scarlet Witch suddenly had kids and was the bad guy of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness? Officially, you'd have to wait until Disney+ launches in the Philippines to get the full answer. Until then, you're stuck with Youtube recaps.
