(SPOT.ph) Being a cinephile in the Philippines means that you rarely get to catch international indie movies on the big screen, typically unless they're up for awards like the Oscars or Golden Globes first. It's a shame to be missing out, for sure. After all, when better to escape into one's emotions than while alone, facing a giant illuminated screen in a dark room.
We're at least thankful that with the return of face-to-face film festivals this year (we've had from Korea, Spain, Mexico, and Italy, for those keeping track), we've got to experience the stories of relatively unsung voices within the international film community. Now, cinephiles have the golden opportunity to catch what is considered one of the greatest works of Asian cinema, Wong Kar-Wai's In the Mood for Love, on the big screen through QCinema's 2022 International Film Festival.

Here's how you can watch In the Mood for Love at the 2022 QCinema International Film Festival:
The 2000 classic romantic drama In the Mood for Love will be playing at the 2022 QCinema International Film Festival, which runs from Thursday, November 17 to Saturday, November 26.
As of writing, only films in the the Digitally Restored Classic Section of the festival lineup have been revealed, while exact screening schedules have yet to be announced. Other classic films included in the lineup are Mike de Leon's debut feature Itim and his 1981 crime-drama Kisapmata.
Venues and the cinemas that In the Mood for Love will be screened in will also be announced soon. During the past two years of the pandemic, the film festival adopted a hybrid setup, where they screened at Gateway Cinema and Gazebo Royale. However, previous installments of the festival had screenings in multiple cinemas around Quezon City.
This guide will be updated as the screening schedules and venues are made available.
Frequently in the conversation for greatest film of all-time, In the Mood for Love follows Chow Mo-wan (Tony Leung) and Su Li-zhen (Maggie Cheung), the spouses of people who are having an affair with each other. The two themselves meet and, as fate would have it, start developing feelings for one another. The film was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival, where Leung also took home Best Actor.
The version of In the Mood for Love screened at QCinema will be the recently restored version of the film. Alongside Criterion Collection and Cineteca di Bologna, Wong developed 4K restoration versions of his entire filmography in 2021, for the 20th anniversary of In the Mood for Love, his most popular work.
