PSA, Tourists: Here's How to Join Taiwan's P9,000 Travel Voucher Giveaway

(SPOT.ph) Attention travel bugs! 2023 really is the year to go out and explore different countries. What with Hong Kong's airline ticket giveaway, countries are really out there dropping the best freebies for travelers visiting their country. Case in point: Taiwan has more exciting news. They're giving away 500,000 travel vouchers to lucky tourists starting May 1, with each one worth around P9,000.

Here's everything we know about Taiwan's travel voucher raffle:

According to a report on the Taiwan News, the Taiwan Tourism Bureau will be giving away over 500,000 vouchers amounting to NTD5,000, or around P9,000, each over the course of three years. Starting May 1, the government will launch the Taiwan Lucky Land campaign for foreigners, which grants lucky travelers the chance to win either a prepaid E-ticket card (EasyCard or iPASS card) with a stored value of NTD5,000 or five accommodation vouchers amounting to NTD1,000 each. 

This year over 250,000 vouchers are up for grabs, while in 2024, another 150,000 will be released, and lastly, 100,000 in 2025. The government started this initiative as a way to jumpstart tourism to Taiwan following one of the world's strictest COVID-19 safety precautions and mandates.

How to join Taiwan's Lucky Land Giveaway for travel vouchers:

Now onto the exciting bit, how exactly do you win these special vouchers? All foreign independent travelers holding a foreign passport (non-ROC passport), entering Taiwan legally, and staying in Taiwan between three to 90 days are eligible to participate. If you're not a member of any tour groups and not applying for any tour group-related travel incentives, you're still in the game.  

Here are the mechanics to enter the raffle for Taiwan travel vouchers:

1. Before your trip to Taiwan: Log in and register participation on the campaign website one to seven days before your scheduled flight arrival in Taiwan. It is important that you are registered before you arrive in Taiwan.

2. Retrieve the Lucky Draw QR code from your email.

3. Once you arrive in Taiwan, proceed to the event area at the airport’s arrival hall, and complete your lucky draw with the QR code.

Note that this voucher promotion is only applicable to tourists entering from the following airports: Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, Taipei Songshan Airport, Taichung International Airport, and Kaohsiung International Airport

4. If the Lucky Draw Screen shows you’ve won a prize, head to the redemption book to receive your prize!
