(SPOT.ph) Ready your hearts because we finally have a name for the John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo reunion movie. ABS-CBN finally confirmed the movie in the teaser for their 2021 slate released on December 20—dropping the very exciting title No Goodbyes. Aside from it being directed by none other than Cathy Garcia-Molina, no other details have been confirmed, but fingers crossed this film will round up the rumored Popoy and Basha trilogy!
Garcia-Molina was at the helm of One More Chance (2007), the film that starred Cruz and Alonzo as Popoy and Basha and cemented them as an unbeatable love team. They followed it up with a sequel in 2015 entitled A Second Chance, which has also been a pop-culture goldmine for quotes and lots of hugot. The director earlier let slip that she was in talks for this reunion movie in October—and this ABS-CBN announcement is all we were waiting for before officially celebrating.
Production was pushed back due to the pandemic but it looks like it's back on track! In October, Garcia-Molina also revealed that she working on several other films: There's one with Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil, one with Vice Ganda, one with Alden Richards (who might just be paired up with Alonzo, too!), and, of course, "may John Lloyd-Bea."
The rest of the 2021 slate of ABS-CBN looks real exciting, too. KathNiel is set to have their big teleserye comeback, which is still untitled but will be a romantic drama about timeless love. There is also the much-awaited Darna remake, now a television series starring Jane De Leon.
The last time we saw Cruz and Alonzo work together was for that IG live conversation they had in April, a super introspective and kilig convo between two old friends—that turned out to be an experimental film directed by Antoinette Jadaone. No release date for No Goodbyes has been announced but we'll be on the lookout for updates!
