(SPOT.ph) While the month of August in streaming has led us back to feeling the magic-and tragedy-of our childhood with Netflix's Barbie movies and Land Before Time releases, the month of September is looking to be an equally nostalgic one on the (currently) foreign streamer Disney+, with the release of their latest live-action reimagining of one of their classic animations.
After Aladdin, Lion King, Beauty & the Beast, and uh, sure, Mulan too, the next Disney animated character being brought to new cinematic life will be none other than the real boy, Pinocchio. Yup, he's a real, real boy now. The new adaptation drops on September 8 for Disney+ subscribers, but we have our first in-depth look at the cast of the film below.

Here's who make up the cast of Disney's live-action Pinocchio:
The heavy-hitter in Pinocchio's cast is undoubtedly Tom Hanks as Geppetto. With recent biopics like Captain Phillips, Bridge of Spies, and A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. It's heartwarming to see Hanks continue his "dad era" into playing the woodcarver who manifests a son into existence. Having played an inanimate object that comes to life himself, we're sure that Hanks will cast his large and lovable presence throughout the film, even if Geppetto doesn't appear in the middle section of Pinocchio's story all that much.
Filling out the live-action supporting cast, Cynthia Ervio will be playing the Good Witch—er, we mean the Blue Fairy—before she debuts as Elphaba in the upcoming Wicked adaptation. Additionally, Luke Evans will prove that no one is indeed like Gaston... well, except for the conniving owner of Pleasure Island, the Coachman, as Evans will take on the role after previously starring in 2017's live-action Beauty & the Beast.
Of course, Pinocchio himself will be portrayed by The Haunting of Bly Manor's Ben Ainsworth. Meanwhile, Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be providing the voice of your conscience, Jiminy Cricket, and Keegan-Michael Key will portray the (we're ashamed to admit) devilishly handsome fox, "Honest" John Worthington Foulfellow.
When you wish upon a star, you get these stars in an incredibly stacked cast for a direct-to-streaming original.
Pinocchio drops for Disney+ users on September 8.
