Shanghai Disneyland Is Opening the World's First Zootopia Theme Park

(SPOT.ph) Early this year, we discovered that Hong Kong Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea are adding new attractions to their roster. But those aren't the only Disney parks in our part of the world. Shanghai Disneyland, the newest Disney theme park in Asia, also has something up its sleeves. Pack your bags and ready your passports as Shanghai Disneyland is slated to open a Zootopia-themed area in its park on December 20.

Checkout Shanghai Disneyland's Zootopia attraction:

Zootopia is a 2016 buddy cop animated action comedy by Disney that follows anthropomorphic mammals in their urban city of Zootopia. It tells the story of an unlikely partnership between a rabbit police officer, Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin), and a red fox con artist, Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), as they uncover a criminal conspiracy involving the disappearance of predators. Fans of this Disney flick will be glad to see familiar sites and characters around the new area. 

Keep your eyes peeled for a new show happening in the area. Reports say that in Zootopia, you can walk randomly along the streets, and you'll hear interactions and dialogue from the residents right out of their windows. You may even start a conversation with Flash the sloth or the Hopps family. 

Aside from Zootopia-themed storefronts and walkways, there will also be a new ride in the area. Dubbed Zootopia: Hot Pursuit, the family-friendly attraction lets riders take on the role of rookie officers. Here, you'll board police cruisers sliding across the ice of Tundratown and flying off the track onto the busy streets of Sahara Square with lots of thrilling turns, spins, slides, and “drops” on a mission to rescue Gazelle from her kidnapper, Bellwether.

In true Disneyland fashion, a new zone means new shops and restaurants will pop up. Get ready to dress head to paws—er, foot in Zootopia merchandise available at the Fashions by Fru Fru. Shop for over 200 products designed exclusively for the new themed land, including headwear, apparel, accessories, and much more.  You’ll also find items themed after scenes in the film, such as Fashions by Fru Fru Toy Bricks and Tundratown Building Toy Bricks, making them perfect souvenirs or gifts.

If you ever get hungry while exploring this new space,  you can drop by Jumbeaux’s Café, where you can get refreshments, eats, and coolers to reenergize you for your continuing adventure in Disneyland. Get ready to sink your teeth into treats from the movie, like a paw-shaped popsicle inspired by the ones made by Nick Wilde in the film or Officer Clawhauser’s favorite donuts.
