Hamilton and In the Heights Creator Lin-Manuel Miranda Greets Filipino Fans

(SPOT.ph) Multi-hyphenate artist Lin-Manuel Miranda is one of the buzziest names in the American theater industry in the last decade. He is best known for the rap musical Hamilton, which premiered on Broadway in 2015 and then on West End in 2017. And in a cryptic video post from GMG Productions on March 27, Miranda greets Filipino fans with a very quirky "Kumusta, Philippines? What's up, dude pare?"

Miranda's greeting coincides with World Theater Day. Not much has been revealed, except for GMG Productions Associate Producer Sam Sewell's recommendation to SPOT.ph to "stay tuned." The artist also shared the video on his Instagram page.

Miranda is the composer and lyricist of In the Heights, which had a film adaptation in 2020. He is also behind the soundtracks of Moana (2016), Encanto (2021), and Vivo (2021). Miranda debuted as a film director with Tick, Tick...Boom!, which came out on Netflix in 2021.

GMG Productions is known to bring international productions to Manila. This included Cats, Royal Shakespeare Company's Matilda, Disney’s The Lion King, Les Misérables, Mamma Mia!, Wicked, The Phantom of the Opera, and West Side Story. Most recently, they staged We Will Rock You and The Sound of Music at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Makati City.
