Chris Evans and a Moustache Pop Up in the First Look for Massive Netflix Film The Gray Man

Ana de Armas, Regé-Jean Page, and Ryan Gosling also pop up.

(SPOT.ph) Before Chris Evans became Captain America, he played a slew of pretty kooky characters—think the jock in Not Another Teen Movie (2001), one of seven evil exes in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010)—and it looks like he's stepping things up again with a pretty unexpected new look. We're talking a questionable 'stache for upcoming Netflix original film The Gray Man. Take a look. It's funner without the whole context.

Okay, so the moustache is giving off very un-Captain America vibes yet, TBH, it isn't unwelcome. Seeing as The Gray Man is touted as one of the biggest films Netflix is making—with a reported grand budget above U.S. $200 million—we're waiting to see what kind of character requires that kind of moustache.

Netflix is aiming for a James Bond level franchise with this spy movie—and with a cast that includes Evans, Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas, Regé Jean-Page, Academy Award nominee Alfre Woodard, Academy Award winner Billy Bob Thornton, and more, we already can't wait to see more.

Oh yes, that was Gosling being badass on a train—among a whole lot of equally cool sneak peeks at Netflix's 2022 movie slate. But before that, back to the spy film in question.

The Gray Man is based on the debut 2009 novel of Mark Greaney. It was the first book to feature Court Gentry, a.k.a. Gray Man, a freelance assassin and former CIA operative. Gosling will play the ex-spy who is hunted across the globe by Lloyd Hansen (Evans). Though we're pretty intrigued by what looked like an interrogation scene between De Armas and Bridgerton's Jean-Page. Plus, we just have to note De Armas' previous appearance in No Time to Die might just help cement this supposed next 007 franchise.

The Russo brothers will direct the film, with a script written by Joe as polished by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. The two are also producers, alongside Mike Larocca on behalf of AGBO, the artist-led entertainment company founded by the brothers in 2017. AGBO and Netflix have already partnered on a previous massive action flick starring another Avengers star Chris Hemsworth with Extraction. So if you liked that, then The Gray Man is definitely worth putting on your list.
