A Guide to Credit Card's Restaurant Promos and Perks: May 2024

(SPOT.ph) Access to airport lounges isn't the only perk you can get with your credit card. Depending on your bank, you can also get huge discounts when dining out thanks to exclusive deals you can get when you use your credit card to pay. In this guide, we list down different credit cards with dining benefits that will last for the whole month of May, and some beyond.

A guide to credit cards and their dining perks:

Banco de Oro (BDO)

BDO Elite, Gold, and Classic credit cardholders can get 50% off on food and beverages from any restaurant under The Bistro Group, so as long they meet the minimum dine-in spend of P3,000 (maximum discount is P3,000). These restaurants are Italianni’s, TGI Fridays, Texas Roadhouse, Watami, Modern Shanghai, Denny’s, Fish & Co., Buffalo Wild Wings, Hard Rock Café, Bulgogi Brothers, Olive Garden, Krazy Garlic, Red Lotus, Secret Recipe, and My South Hall. 

If you want to dine somewhere fancier, BDO Elite and Gold credit cardholders can get 50% off at Las Flores, BCN by Las Flores, Tomatito, Rumba, and Rambla when you meet the minimum spend of P5,000. As for BDO Elite credit cardholders, they can get the same discount at Ember, Savage, and The Test Kitchen with a minimum spend of P5,000. These promos are available until May 30.

For fans of hotel buffets, BDO Elite credit cardholders can get 50% off at Shangri-la Manila's Heat from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday to Saturday, and with a minimum of four diners and a maximum of eight. BDO credit and debit cardholders can get 50% off at New World Makati Hotel's Café 1228 lunch and dinner buffets. There is a minimum of two and a maximum of 20 people for this promo.

BPI

With the BPI and Robinsons Bank merger, select BPI and Robinsons Bank credit and debit cardholders can get up to 50% off at Shangri-La Manila's lunch buffet. There is a minimum of two diners and a maximum of eight, available from Mondays to Fridays until June 30. The same 50% discount applies to Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria's lunch and dinner buffet at Seven Corners, with a minimum of two diners and a maximum of six diners. Both of these hotel promos are available until June 30.

BPI credit cardholders are also entitled to other hotel dining promos at Okada Manila and Marco Polo Ortigas. As for restaurant discounts, they can get up to 50% off at Burger Beast, Nono's, Kitchen by The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf , and Cibo—these three restaurant promos are available until July 31 this year and apply to BPI prepaid and debit cards as well.

EastWest

The restaurant promos EastWest credit cardholders can enjoy include a 10% discount at Brique Modern Kitchen, a 30% discount at Feta Mediterranean, and a 50% discount at Greyhound Café, Botejyu, Baker J, and California Pizza Kitchen. As for hotel and resort dining promos, the credit cardholders can get 50% off at Admiral Hotel's buffet, a 15% discount at Eastwood Richmonde Hotel, and up to 30% discount at Bluewater Resorts.

The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC)

Most of the dining benefits for HSBC credit cardholders are tied to hotels around the Philippines. There's a 15% discount up for grabs at Belmont Hotel Mactan; a 20% discount at Belmont Hotel Manila; up to 25% discount at Eastwood Richmonde Hotel and Richmonde Hotel Ortigas; a 10% discount at Richmonde Hotel Iloilo; a 10% discount at Twin Lakes Hotel's Wine Gallery; a 15% discount at Savoy Hotel Manila's café and poolside bar; a 20% discount at Seda BGC's Misto weekday buffet, a 20% discount at Hilton Manila's Kusina Sea Kitchens; up to 30% discount at Admiral Hotel Manila.

Metrobank

Metrobank has a looong list of credit card promos for a Mother's Day celebration. There's a 50% discount at House of Lasagna; up to 30% discount at Feta Mediterranean Restaurant; a 20% discount at Sourdough Cafe + Deli, Bo's Coffee, Elevate Bistro Lounge, Marriot Café's buffet, and Somms Table; a 15% discount at La Condessa, Kale Café + Restaurant; a 10% discount at iDarts Dash, Mangan, Lemuria Fine Dining, and El Gaucho Argentinian Steakhouse, and Jiang Nan Hotpot. 

On top of that, Metrobank's April dining deals overlap with May, while some are even available until September. These promos include a 50% discount at Illo's Home Buffet, Lè Gastrō, and Reserve’s Steak & Date; a 30% discount at Barcino Wine Resto Bar, and Scotts Café; a 20% discount at Single Origin, Bay City Café, H Café, Highlights Bar, Straight Up Bar; a 15% discount ay Gyu Kaku, Morellis Gelato, West 103, and Izakaya Geronimo; a 10% discount at Wagyu Studio and Croquembouche Factory.

Philippine National Bank (PNB)

PNB credit card holders (excluding Business, Corporate, Distribution, and Personal Installment cards) also get the huge benefit of getting a 50% discount at any The Bistro Group restaurant, namely TGI Friday's, Italianni's, Texas Roadhouse, Watami, Denny's, Buffalo Wild Wings, Modern Shanghai, Bulgogo Brothers, Fish & Co, Hard Rock Cafe, Olive Garden, Savage, Las Flores, BCN by Las Flores, Tomatito, Rambla, Rumba, My South Hall, Red Lotus, and Secret Recipe. This promo is available until June 8 and requires a minimum single receipt amounting to P3,000.

PNB also has ongoing dining promos in different hotels within Metro Manila. There's a 30% off at S Kitchen lunch and dinner buffets and 25% off at Oori—both in Sheraton Manila Hotel—during your birth month; 20% off at Kingsford Hotel Manila; 30% off at Admiral Club Manila Bay, 15% off at Coconut Grove, and 15% off at Ruby Wong's Godown at Admiral Hotel Manila; 20% off at Berjaya Makati Hotel's dining establishments, 40% off at Holiday Inn & Suites Makati's Flavors Restaurant lunch and dinner buffets, and more.

RCBC

One of the unique promos for RCBC credit cardholders is a 50% discount at dining establishments under The Nikkei Group Restaurants: Nikkei Rockwell, Nikkei Nama Bar Rada, Nikkei Robata (Uptown, Newport, Greenbelt), Señorita Sunae Asian, Kitchen, Sakagura, and Big Belly. For a minimum single receipt worth P3,500, they can get a 50% discount from Mondays to Sundays until August 10. 

RCBC JCB credit cardholders get a 15% discount at Mugen Group Philippines restaurants, namely Yamato Café, Mitsuyado Sei-Men, Mos Burger, and Tendon Kohaku. This promo has varying required minimum spend—starting at P600 and can go as high as P1,500.

A few RCBC promos we haven't seen as commonly offered with other credit cards include a 10% discount at Sbarro, a 10% discount at Earl of Sandwich, and a 20% discount at Buca de Beppo.

Security Bank

Security Bank has, more or less, the same promos from restaurant groups Wildflour Hospitality Group and Nikkei Group Restaurants, dining establishments like Greyhound Café, Single Origin, and Paper Moon—even the ones from hotels like Admiral Hotel Manila and Two Seasons. 

A unique promo that is exclusive to RCBC Security Bank Mastercard cardholders is the "One Dines Free" promo wherein the cardholders can enjoy a complimentary main course when dining at any of the participating restaurants, namely Baker J, Sunae, and Marison's. An example cited in the promo mechanics states, "2 persons ordered 2 main courses; the cardholder shall pay for 1 main course."

Restaurant reservations should be done via the One Dines Free website. Security Bank's One Dines Free promo is available until May 31.

UnionBank

For UnionBank credit cardholders, we're going to highlight all things free. According to the bank's website, you can get certain dishes for free from different restaurants. UnionBank credit cardholders can get free Pastel De Lengua at Abé; Crispy Bagnet from Bistro Remedios, Fillet of Sole Toscana at Café Adriatico; Estufada Bisaya at Fely's Kitchen; free Penne Caprese from Larry's Café & Bar; and Rosemary Chicken at Lorenzo's Way.

There's also free Chicken Pandan from Mango Tree, Tom Yum Chicken Wings from Mango Tree Café, Shoyu Ramen from Genki Sushi, Pork Gyoza from Kureji, Chawanmushi from Sen Ryo, Scallop Dumplings at Tung Lok Seafood, Scallop Dumplings from Tung Lok Signatures, and an appetizer from Kuya J Restaurant.
